Abingdon Council Offices
Client: Vale of White Horse DC
Value: £8 million

Arts and Crafts Style offices whilst at Holder Mathias. Following the master planning of the former railway station and former cattle market in central Abingdon, we were asked to design 54,000 sq ft of new offices for the local Council which saw the various departments housed in the same building for the first time. However, to fit such a large building in the centre of one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the UK proved a challenge, so we reverted to the architectural style of Sir Edwin Lutyens to building which provided some civic grandeur whilst not dwarfing the scale and composure of this medieval environment.
